Project Delivery

We have an updated Community Strategy setting the vision and priorities for the District and we have just had our Annual Community Conference helping us to develop our thoughts and ideas for addressing the issues raised in that strategy.

The next step is turning these ideas into actions and to bring about change where change is needed. To assist with this process, the LSP launched the Targeting Change Fund in October 2009 – a fund that enabled the LSP to support partners to develop great ideas for change and turn them into action.  The LSP has also developed a commissioning programme of larger scale projects to be supported over the next few years.

Targeting Change

Bullet_TargetWe called the fund Targeting Change because it's aim is to focus positive change in our district and enable us to meet the high expectations that we have set out in our Community Strategy.  There will also be some large scale funding for a few “big ideas” across the district but we speficially wanted to create an opportunity for delivery partners including voluntary groups, local charities and community groups to bid for funds between £2,000 and £10,000.

Bullet_TargetProject ideas received had to show clear links to the priorities of the Sustainable Community Strategy with a focus on addressing the identified gap areas in the strategy.  These are the areas that residents decided were priorities and where the LSP is focusing effort in order to make the District an even better place.

Bullet_TargetPartnership working was also a key objective – all applicants were asked to clearly involve partners from different sectors, working together to make a difference.

The process was simple with a closing date of 23rd December 2009 (see documentation below).

Decisions made early in February 2010 approved 28 project applications and allocated approximately £213,000 over two years.

For more information about the successful applications please download the project summary document below, and if you have any questions, or would like to know more about Targeting Change feel free to contact Jane Pearce, LSP Co-ordinator, on 01727 819349 or at jane.pearce@stalbans.gov.uk

Commissioning Programme

The LSP Board and Management Committee developed an initial list of approx 20 ideas for strategic commissioning which would be developed and refined over the 6 month period Oct 2009 - Mar 2010.  The Board in Feb 2010 reviewed a refined shortlist of 11 commissioning proposals for projects which address the seven targeted gap areas in the Sustainable Community Strategy.

In Sept 2010 it was agreed to add an additional proposal to develop a 'local services hub' model of front facing service delivery.

More information, as well as a full list of the 12 proposed projects, can be found in the LSP Board papers, or downloaded from below.
