What is the St Albans and District Local Strategic Partnership?St Albans and District Local Strategic Partnership: A major new development in partnership working Organisations that play a major role in the life of St Albans City and District have come together to form a partnership body to work together towards a better community to live, work and relax in. Launched on 16 April 2002, the Local Strategic Partnership undertook to drive the Community Strategy process. It published the Community Strategy in February 2004 which was based on the themes that emerged from a number of focus group meetings and consultations held with local organisations. Made up of key voluntary, public and private sector organisations based in and around the District of St Albans, the partnership’s task is to deliver and implement the Community Strategy improving the quality of life in the district, and making it a better place to live, work and visit. Representing the business community, Philip Gillmor President of the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce said: "The Chamber is delighted to work in such a high profile and worthwhile partnership. We have often complained about a lack of communication or repetition but we now have a vehicle which could, and should, help us all to deliver locally". While housing association director, Lesley Culley Director of the Hightown Praetorian and Churches Housing Association said "We all have the same objective at heart, that is improving the quality of life for residents and visitors. Anything we can do to enable the agencies, individuals and organisations to understand each other and work together to achieve this goal must be a good thing".
